About this activity

HYPE! (Hassocks Youth Project Events) and Drama Collective are proud to offer three empowering drama workshops. The workshops will teach young people about the world of theatre through a variety of method-acting techniques and interactive drama games to develop:

  • relaxation and mindfulness

  • character development

  • script interpretation

  • vocalisation and movement

  • improvisation

Whether you like to be centre stage or prefer to work behind the scenes, all are welcome to nurture their creative thinking skills, let loose and play around with different personalities to create a truly fun and memorable experience.

An inclusive drama workshop experience

In addition to forming new friendships and learning the fundamentals of acting, participants of all abilities will have the chance to flex their imagination and develop pride in their own capabilities while nourishing these key life-skills:

  • Improve confidence and self-respect

  • enhance communication, vocabulary and public speaking abilities

  • boost concentration and focus

  • establish empathy through teamwork

Participants will have the chance to demonstrate the skills that they’ve learnt and developed at the end of the final workshop on Wednesday, 13 August. Furthermore, all students who participate in all three workshop sessions will receive a Certificate for Completion of the HYPE! Holiday Drama Workshop 2025.

Who are these workshops ideal for?

We are pleased to welcome young people of learning ages 9 to 14 who are interested in trying out drama or who wish to develop method acting techniques and improvisation skills.

Most importantly, no experience is necessary!

To create a comfortably inclusive atmosphere for participants, we aim to have between 12 and 20 individuals participate in this activity for each session.

Please be advised that we may not accept individuals who are younger than 8 or older than 15 years of age. We may accept children who are turning 9 years old in 2025 but who are not older than 15.

When and where?

This didactic and confidence boosting activity will take place over the course of three consecutive half-day sessions that will run from 10am to 1pm at the Hassocks United Reformed Church on these dates:

  • Monday, 11th August
