Rail Group Update

Timetable changes from Sunday 13 December 2020.  As part of the national timetable change, some changes are being introduced to train services across the Govia Thameslink Railway network.
These changes have been shaped by the input of customers and stakeholders, the continued impact of coronavirus on the railway and to tailor services to the times when demand is greatest in order to provide a more reliable service.
The changes for Hassocks are a reduction of the Southern Hassocks to Victoria and Littlehampton trains from two an hour to one an hour between 09.02 and 12.02 northbound and 11.15 to 13.15 southbound weekdays; this does not affect Saturday and Sunday trains.  The removal of off-peak trains is to support peak train services in response to passenger demand.  The two an hour Thameslink trains are not affected.
Some stops have been added at Hassocks in peak hours on services between Brighton and London Victoria to provide more journey options and capacity.
It will be important to check your journey from Sunday 13 December.
In other news, eReaders on the wide access gates have been switched on at Hassocks from 30 November 2020, so customers can now use etickets / barcode tickets for travelling, as well as other smart options such as KeyGo.  eTickets can be used between any station that has a gateline fitted with barcode readers, as well as any community station that does not have a gateline.
As mentioned in our last update, in May 2020 major upgrade works were begun to Gatwick Airport station to meet the ever-increasing passenger demand there (see the information on the Rail Group page).  This affected train paths and a direct train service from Hassocks to Hove and West Coastway stations was introduced Monday to Saturday in place of the Hassocks to Brighton Southern services.  On Sunday all trains are from and to Brighton.
